A Corgi Bee is a helper of the local honey bee of Hawaii. It's a magical creature only found here on the Big island! Unlike the standard honey bee, the Corgi Bee likes to come out at night. This is why it's so rare to see one in person. But seeing one in real life isn’t the only treasure, it’s their HONEY! Corgi Bees are notorious for their excellent ability to collect from only the best flowers in the forest. Legend has it their double layer coat can fit 200 percent more pollen than the standard honey bee! Also, they're known to be heard barking in the forest if a door bell is rung close by. But this is all legend and folk lore. Something that can’t be disputed is their magical honey. We have special hive boxes that allow these wonderful pollinators in, the bees work alongside Corgi Bees to produce some of the best tasting honey on the islands.
This honey consist of local flora found in the area such as Mac Nut, Christmas berry, various citrus, local weeds, and the most prevalent the bright red Lehua.
My wife and I work the hives ourselves. From hive maintenance and splitting to harvesting and jarring. We are around the whole process from start to finish. Hope you can taste the hard work we/bees put into these jars. Hive location: Ocean View, HI 96737
